ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Private jet travel through Aspen is dropping, even as it has risen nationally.
The Aspen Daily News reports that were about 16,000 private flights in and out of Aspen last year, down from about 19,000 in 2009.
Statistics from Pitkin County show that private plane traffic at the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport so far this year is down about 12 percent from last year.
Nationally, private jet trips have risen about 10 percent since the spring of 2009, when traffic hit its lowest point and had dropped 35 percent within a year.
