Prolific Colorado Springs identity thief captured in New Mexico

Colorado Springs Police are pleased to announce the capture of a man they say is the most prolific identity thief in Colorado Springs' history. You may remember Randall Heath from our extensive coverage one month ago today where we outlined his frequent trips in and out of jail for multiple charges of suspected identity theft.

Heath allegedly used stolen information of his victim's identity to file fraudulent tax returns in hopes of getting refund loans. Heath was known to operate under more than a dozen aliases during is crime spree and once he bonded out from jail most recently, Heath fled Colorado.

Police had released statements asking for help in locating Heath and until March 31st when he was taken into custody by the Taos, New Mexico Police Department following a traffic stop. Taos Police discovered Heath had relocated to New Mexico under a false identity, where he had opened bank accounts in Both Taos and Las Vegas New Mexico.

Heath had rented vehicles and attempted to purchase a new vehicle under a false identity as well. It was reported that Heath had also attempted to alter his appearance by cutting his hair short and shaving his face clean.

Heath was out on an estimated bond amount of nearly $100,000.00 which was secured by a local Bail Bondsman.
