Pueblo County wins top digital information award

Pueblo County is being recognized as a leading government in using digital technology. Pueblo County Government won first place in the 2011 Digital Counties Survey, in the 150,000 to 249,999 population category.

Winners were divided into four population categories that ranked the top 10 counties in the United States. First-place winners in each category emphasized Information Technology initiatives and projects that cut costs and helped their agencies cope with shrinking work forces.

Survey judges were impressed with Pueblo County's shared services efforts, which deliver hosted GIS, property assessment and taxation services to six other counties in Colorado using internally-hosted cloud computing. The goal is excellent customer service. Dan Mauro, Pueblo County's Information Systems director, gave credit to the county's redesigned community web portal. Pueblo County Commissioners John B. Cordova Sr. and Anthony Nuñez accepted the award Saturday, July 16, in Portland, Oregon. Pueblo County Commissioners are extremely proud to accept this award on behalf of its Technical Services staff. Commissioner Chair, John B. Cordova Sr. stated, "Pueblo County is extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented workforce. The services that our employees provide are top-notch; which is evident with this prestigious award."
