Pueblo officers honored for bravery, heroic acts

Police officers who've gone above and beyond the call of duty were honored in Pueblo today. Outstanding members of the Pueblo Police Department and several private citizens were recognized at a special banquet at Pueblo Community College.

Twenty meritorious service awards were handed out, including two Medal of Valor recipients.

"Rescuing someone or attempting to rescue someone is a big thing to me. It's who I am. I would do it a million times if I had to," said Ofc. Richard Romero, Medal of Valor recipient.

"I want to make the streets and the town safe for my family and my friends and for the people who live here," said Ofc. Phillip Trujillo, Medal of Valor recipient.

News 5's Rob Quirk and Lisa Lyden emceed the event.
