Pueblo Police Department gets $15,000 grant

Pueblo,Colo - The Pueblo Police Department has received a $15,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Transportation's Office of Transportation Safety (CDOT). The money will go towards speed detection equipment: $12,500 for 6 new radar guns, with the remainder going towards enforcement.

The Pueblo Police Department applied for the grant following a number of fatality accidents over the past twelve months, in hopes that increased enforcement will impact the fatality accident rate. Since October 2011, there have been 16 fatality accidents in the City of Pueblo.

Sergeant Chris Noeller with the Traffic Unit said, "We have already increased our enforcement on I-25 and will be continue to conduct enforcement efforts in various locations around the City. We encourage everyone to obey the traffic laws and drive safely."
