Pueblo teen shoots at home intruders; police warn of rash of burglaries

PUEBLO, CO- Pueblo Police say a 14-year-old boy shot at intruders in his home.

This happened in the 700 block of E. 2nd Street. Officers say they responded to a call from the teenager, who told them he shot someone.

That teen told officers he was home alone when he heard someone in his house. He then said he grabbed a handgun, fired at the intruders, and believes he hit one of them. He told police he saw one black male and two other males, possibly hispanic.

Police say they found the back door kicked in and that power to the house had been shut off. There was no evidence that anyone was shot, however.

Pueblo Police are warning everyone tonight that there have been a rash of burglaries on the east side of the city. They say those responsible park in the alley. They then knock on front doors and when no one answers, they go around back and kick in the back door.

If you have any information, you're urged to call Pueblo Police at 719-553-2502 or Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
