Pueblo West Wet Parade brings in thousands of people

If you wanted relief from the heat Wednesday morning, Pueblo West was the place to be.

The tradition started as a fire chief in the 1970's spraying sweaty spectators, and now thousands of people fight in water wars, dump water on people they didn't even know, and enjoy the water sprayed from multiple fire and service trucks.

Some say it's unusual but fun to see thousands of people in a water fight.

"This is very unusual, but this is about being a tight community and having fun celebrating the Fourth of July," said Brad Davidson, Division Chief for the Pueblo West Fire Department.

Many people say this is one of the most exciting hometown parades they've seen, and those with the parade say it's the biggest of it's kind here in the west.
