Quiet today....but it may not stay that way

TODAY: Quiet and mild today before series of Pacific storms move through the state this weekend! We'll start the day with some clouds, but are expecting mostly sunny skies by afternoon with a bit of a breezy and our mildest temps for the next week! High for Colorado Springs will reach 51 degrees...Pueblo, Canon and the plains make it to near 60. There will be spots east of I-25 around La Junta and Lamar that could have some wind gusts over 40 mph. Later this afternoon snow showers will begin for the central and southwest mountains. Most of the high country, west of the Continental Divide, are covered by advisories through late Sunday or Monday. 12" of snow possible around Vail & Beaver Creek. 16" of snow are possible around Monarch, Crested Butte, Wolf Creek and Telluride. Good news for skiers, but bad news if you plans to try and travel over any of the mountain passes.

TONIGHT: As the first storm slams into the mountains we'll still see quiet conditions and milder temps here overnight. Upper 20's in the Springs to around 30 in Canon City, Walsenburg and Trinidad. A bit gusty at times as well through Saturday. Pueblo tonight will be a touch milder also with lows in the 20's.

SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and chilly temps. Highs of only 43 and 50 for Colorado Springs and Pueblo. More clouds during the afternoon and a chance, thanks to storm number 1, of some light snow across the mountains close to home and maybe a light shower or two after 3 pm for El Paso County and the Springs. This first storm will likely pass to far to the north to bring much hope of moisture to Pueblo or the plains...instead we expect mostly dry skies and gusty winds. By evening a stray light snow shower will be possible for all of eastern Colorado overnight and to start Sunday.

SUNDAY: Colder still with another slight chance about only 20-30% of a light snow shower or two. Chances for snow will be higher over mountains west of I-25..including Teller County, the Wets and Sangre's. Storm number two begins dropping more snow for the mountains across the Divide and by late in the day and evening across eastern Colorado. High temps only make it to the 30's for almost all of the lower elevations. Mountain temps only reach the 20's!

MONDAY: Snow showers are possible to start the day for the lower and higher elevations and it will be even colder still. Max temps only in the twenties for the Springs and Pueblo....mostly teens in the mountains.

TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY: Quieter and slightly warmer weather returns. Temps in the 30's on Monday with partly cloudy skies...warming into the 40's and lower 50's by Wednesday with sunny conditions. Overnight another storm will start to bring some more light snow for the mountains.

THURSDAY: Long range models point at some cooler temps and that next storm being enough to bring us some light showers here locally as well. We'll keep you posted!

Have a great weekend!
