PUEBLO - A skunk infected with rabies was found in a Pueblo neighborhood, according to Public Health Department officials. The skunk was seen during daylight hours charging pets on 23rd Lane, between Hillside Road and Iris Road. This is the first rabid skunk caught in Pueblo in 2014.
It is very unusual for skunks to venture out during the day, or act aggressively towards pets.
The Pueblo City - County Health Department asks that people who see skunks or other animals during daylight hours acting abnormally, such as stumbling or acting overly aggressive, to stay away from the animal, especially children and pets, and call Pueblo Animal Services (719) 544-3005 to report the location.
