Rain, hail and lightning have suspended the fight against a Utah wildfire ignited by Army National Guard members during weekend machine-gun training.

Fire spokesman Marshall Thompson said Wednesday's storm isn't expected to extinguish the 6-square-mile blaze that burned three homes and damaged a fourth in Herriman. But it will help control it.

Thompson said 520 firefighters and guardsmen are hunkering down because of the danger of lightning.

The fire is 50 percent contained.

Officials are reassessing evacuation orders for 250 residents still kept out of homes closest to Camp Williams, a training base about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City. More than 1,600 houses were ordered evacuated after the fire broke out Sunday.
