Recreational marijuana legalization push in Colorado

DENVER (AP) - Colorado marijuana activists are launching two separate campaigns to legalize the drug for adults in 2012.

The two groups announced their intentions Wednesday and say they're not discouraged by California's rejection of a legalization effort Tuesday.

The announcement to launch a legalization drive also comes a day after Colorado voters in more than two dozen municipalities decided to ban medical marijuana centers. The largest Colorado municipality to ban dispensaries is Aurora.

The groups working on the legalization measures say they're confident Colorado voters will approve the drug for residents 21 and older.

The Cannabis Therapy Institute says they will begin collecting signatures in early 2012.
