Redistricting panel heads to southern Colo.

ALAMOSA, Colo. (AP) - A bipartisan panel considering new congressional districts is headed to southern Colorado talk with residents about their district.

The legislative panel planned hearings in Alamosa and Pueblo Saturday. Both are currently in the 3rd Congressional District represented by Republican Rep. Scott Tipton.

The panel also plans a public hearing in the western part of that district, in Grand Junction. Lawmakers are redrawing Colorado's seven congressional districts as required after every Census.

The 3rd District will get physically larger because the district is not growing as fast as other parts of the state. Lawmakers aim to agree on new congressional lines later this spring.
