A popular reservoir will be closed through the year so repairs can be made on the dam. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife the reservoir at the Beaver Creek Reservoir State Wildlife Area needed to be drained to accomodate repairs. The reservoir is about 5 miles from the town of South Fork in the San Luis Valley.
Wildlife officials expect to be able to reopen the reservoir and stock it with fish in early 2015.
Forest Service Road 360, which leads to the reservoir from U.S. Highway 160, will stay open as well as the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds and trailheads in the area. The area above the reservoir can also be accessed via Rio Grande County Road 14, located just west of Del Norte. Follow the road to Forest Service Roads 330 and 332, and then to Forest Service Road 360.
