Water should be running again in Rocky Ford around 8 p.m. Monday according to City Manager Dan Hyatt. The entire town has been without water for three days.
Rocky Ford's mayor says four water mains broke beginning on Christmas, affecting the town's 4,000 residents. Several restaurants and businesses were forced to close. The city brought in a water tank and ordered 4,000 gallons of bottled water to help residents get by.
Hyatt says crews got done fixing the broken pipes around 5:30 p.m.
"The city is in the process of a major water renovation. We're not finished with it yet, when we are finished we'll have a backup main coming into town to prevent this kind of problem in the future," said Hyatt.
Hyatt says when water is running again, a boil order will be in place. Residents are being told to boil their water for at least three minutes, until they're told otherwise.
