A rollover crash around 3:30 Sunday morning near the intersection of 30th and Centennial has left one person dead and two others in the hospital.
"Indications are that this single vehicle was southbound on Centennial at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control," explains Sgt. Lonnie Spanswick with CSPD's Major Accident Unit.
Investigators believe they driver of the truck ran over a curb, hit a large sign, skidded across the curb and that's where they flipped over.
Lt. Rigdon says he's seen some bad crashes at that intersection. "We have had several serious wrecks that that location. It's just an odd intersection where it makes a pretty severe curve right where the accident happened."
It's believed that alcohol and excessive speed also played a heavy part in the crash. Add that to the curve and it's a recipe for disaster.
"I think it does come back to if people aren't really paying attention, if they are going too fast and alcohol is involved or there's some kind of impairment that complicates things. It just makes it that much harder to negotiate," Rigdon says.
The suspected driver and another passenger are expected to live. If that's the case the driver could be facing some heavy duty charges.
"The person would be facing charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault," explains Spanswick.
