DENVER (AP) - Troy Tulowitzki broke out of a slump with a solo homer and two singles to help the Colorado Rockies hold off hot-hitting Cameron Maybin and the San Diego Padres 12-7 on Friday night.
The Rockies' stagnant offense belted out a season-high 16 hits and scored their most runs of the year as they moved percentage points ahead of San Francisco for first place in the NL West.
Their outburst at the plate helped offset quite a night by Maybin, who finished 4 for 4 with two homers and three RBIs. It was the first multihomer game of his career and second straight contest in which he's had four hits.
Jorge De La Rosa (5-1) was erratic but effective enough to earn his first win this month. The hard-throwing lefty lasted 5 2-3 innings, giving up five runs and a season-high nine hits. He struck out three and walked three.
