Rox beat Cubs and lose to White Sox in split-squad games

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Jorge De La Rosa allowed two hits in four innings, prospect Jordan Pacheco hit a three-run homer and a Colorado Rockies' split-squad beat the Chicago Cubs 4-0 Tuesday.

De La Rosa struck out five and walked none as the Rockies won for the third time in five home games.

Clay Mortensen pitched two innings, and Rafael Betancourt, Edgmer Escalona and Franklin Morales each threw an inning to complete a five-hitter.

Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano gave up one run and five hits in three innings - the first run he allowed in eight innings this spring training. Braden Looper retired his first seven batters before allowing a single, hitting a batter and giving up Pacheco's homer.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Gordon Beckham and Dayan Viciedo had three hits each, and the Chicago White Sox beat a Colorado Rockies' split squad 9-8 Tuesday.

Tyler Flowers hit a solo home run for the White Sox, who had 17 hits and went 8-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

White Sox starter John Danks walked three in 3 1-3 innings, raising his spring training total to five in 5 1-3 innings. He gave up two runs and five hits.

Dexter Fowler and Ben Paulsen each had two hits, and each had a standup triple. Ty Wigginton hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Michael McKenry had a solo homer in the ninth.
