The fire burning west of Canon City has knocked out power to dozens of homes.
Black Hills Energy reports about 90 homes in the Copper Gulch area southwest of the fire are without electricity because of damage to power lines. They are expected to be without power for several days.
At least one home has been burned in the fire, which started around 2 p.m. Monday along the railroad tracks near Parkdale. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
9-1-1 Emergency Notification calls went out to about 175 phones when it came time to evacuate the area yesterday. That included businesses along 8 Mile Hill. Those people were allowed to go back to their businesses Tuesday morning. Still evacuated are a couple of campgrounds, the Royal Gorge Bridge and Buckskin Joe. About three dozen homes are also on evacuation status.
Fremont County has now imposed a Stage 2 Fire Ban.
