The fire burning near the Royal Gorge in Fremont County is now reported at 65 percent containment. The fire started earlier this week along the railroad tracks near Parkdale. The cause is still undetermined.

This afternoon Sheriff Jim Beicker told News First the fire had grown only slightly since Tuesday, to 735 acres. Just over 200 firefighters are still working the fire.

He also announced that businesses south of Highway 50, including Buckskin Joe and Royal Gorge will be allowed to reopen this evening. Evacuation orders are still in place for the fire area, basically west of Road 61 and south of Highway 50. Beicker said that's because active fire fighting is still underway in that area.
