SWAT situation in Colorado Springs ends without arrest

A several hour stand off with Colorado Springs police ended Friday morning without arrests

It was at Kiowa St. and Logan Ave. Neighboring streets were also shut down as a precaution.

Police say they received a 911 hangup call from the home at 4 Logan Ave. When they went to check it out, police say an 85-year-old man threatened the officers with a gun. They called in back up, which turned into a several hour standoff with C.S.P.D.

However, even after all of the officers called out and the reason for the call, no arrests were made.

"We do put a lot of resources into these things," says Sgt. Mark Stevens, C.S.P.D. "The end goal is to make sure that everybody walks away safely, if by our leaving that people are safer then that's probably the best thing to do."

Police say they'll discuss the possibility of filing charges against the man. They say the man isn't a threat to himself or others, so they've decided to leave him alone for Friday morning.
