The search continues for 13-year-old Dylan Redwine of Colorado Springs. He was reported missing last Monday during a court ordered Thanksgiving visit to his father's home in Vallecito; that's 22 miles northeast of Durango.
Search crews are focusing on the Bayfield area, just south of Vallecito. That's where authorities say Dylan spent a lot of time before moving to Colorado Springs with his mother and brother earlier this summer. Crews are using all-terrain vehicles along USFS Middle Mountain Road as well as search dogs throughout the area.
"Sheriff's Office personnel working to find Dylan are fathers, mothers, and grandparents. Each of us feel Dylan's family's pain and know something could just as easily happen to our loved ones," says Dan Bender, public information officer for the La Plata County Sheriff's Office.
Dylan was reported missing by his father. The father told investigators that Dylan was at his house on County Road 500 while he went to run some errands. The father returned home around 11:30 a.m. and Dylan was gone. Dylan was reported missing that afternoon.
Dylan is about 5 feet tall, weighs 105 pounds, has blond and blue eyes with a fair complexion. Authorities say he was wearing a blue and white Duke Blue Devils baseball hat, a black Nike t-shirt, black basketball shorts, and might have a black backpack.
