The body of a second U.S. sailor who went missing in a dangerous part of eastern Afghanistan has been recovered, a senior U.S. military official and Afghan officials said Thursday.

The U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose the information, said the family of Petty Officer 3rd Class Jarod Newlove - a 25-year-old from the Seattle area - was notified of his death.

Government and police officials in Logar province said villagers found a body, clothed in a uniform, on Wednesday in Baraki Barak district.

Baraki Barak is next door to Charkh district where Newlove and Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin McNeley went missing last Friday.

McNeley's body was recovered in the area on Sunday. He was originally from Wheatridge, Colorado.
