THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - Dutch prosecutors say they will charge three youth soccer players with manslaughter for allegedly taking part in a vicious attack on a volunteer linesman after a match.
The linesman, Richard Nieuwenhuizen, died Monday, a day after he was beaten and kicked by players from Amsterdam team Nieuw Sloten following their match at Buitenboys, a club in nearby Almere.
Prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday that the three youths, two 15 and one 16, would be arraigned on Thursday on charges of manslaughter, assault and public violence. Their identities were not released.
Earlier, FIFA President Sepp Blatter said in a statement he was "deeply shocked" by Nieuwenhuizen's death.
