Serial rapist sentenced to 3 life terms

THORNTON, Colo. (AP) - A Thornton man convicted of raping three women has been sentenced to 48 years to life in prison for each assault.

The Denver Post reports that 29-year-old William Allen Maldonado will serve the sentences consecutively. An Adams County jury convicted Maldonado of three sexual assaults that occurred between 2000 and 2004 in Thornton and Federal Heights.

Authorities say Maldonado invaded the women's homes and used a gun in two of the assaults and a knife in the other. They say DNA evidence was collected in each case and led investigators to Maldonado in 2009.
