Severe storms possible this evening

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues until 11pm today for El Paso, Pueblo, Teller, Fremont, Chaffee, Crowley, Otero, Custer, Huerfano, Las Animas, Lincoln, and Elbert Counties.

Expect periods of showers and thunderstorms to move over Southern Colorado this evening. Some storms may be strong to severe producing gusty winds up to 60 mph and large hail. Heavy rain and frequent lightning is also possible with any storm that develops.

Rain looks to come to an end for most areas before sunrise Monday. A shower is still possible though around the Pikes Peak region and the Palmer Divide before noon. Otherwise, the breezy conditions will continue for the day Monday with winds gusting up to 30 mph at times out of the north-northwest. Clouds will be on the decrease with highs right near average for this time of year.

Sunshine and warm temperatures will rule the middle of the week. A few showers are possible Friday as another system rolls through the state. Next weekend looks great with mostly sunny skies around plus nice fall-like temps in the 60s/70s.
