Severe storms possible today

There's a SLIGHT RISK for severe weather along the Front Range this afternoon and evening. Wind gusts up to 60 mph or greater and isolated large hail are the main threats. Frequent lightning and brief heavy downpours are also likely. Areas near the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest burn scars need to be aware of the possible threat for flash flooding today and Sunday.

Another round of afternoon and evening thunderstorms is in the forecast today due to plenty of moisture in the air and an upslope wind. It won't be as hot though with highs several degrees cooler than Friday and right near average for this time of year.

It'll be even cooler Sunday with highs in the 70s/80s. The potential for scattered storms is there once again for the afternoon and evening hours Sunday.

The cooler, below average highs will continue into the first and middle part of the workweek. Isolated showers and storms are possible each day including the 4th of July.
