Convicted sex offender John Gardner admits he tried to rape a Colorado Springs woman while she visited California late last year. At the same time, Gardner has also pleaded guilty to killing two teenage girls in San Diego.
County prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty in exchange for the guility pleas.
The 31 year old faces life in prison without parole for the murder of 14 year old Amber Dubois and 17 year old Chelsea King.
In court Friday, Prosecutors revealed that Gardner showed investigators where to find the remains of Dubois.
He also pleaded guilty to attempting to rape a Colorado Springs woman who was visiting San Diego in December. Candice Moncayo told CNN's Larry King in March about the attack, "at one point he picked me up by my shoulders and he started shaking me the way you're not supposed to shake a child. And I managed to get one hand on the ground, my left hand. And I took my right elbow and I bashed him in the nose. And he grabbed his face and turned away from me. And yelled some things. And I got up and I ran faster than I think I've ever run in my life."
Gardner will be sentenced June 1st.
Gardner served five years in prison after pleading guilty in 2000 to molesting a 13-year-old neighbor girl. Records show he later violated parole by moving too close to a school but was allowed to remain free.
