Sheriff's Office warning about scary new scam

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is getting reports of a scary new scam.

3 people have reported that they received a call from a man saying he had thier daughter and grandson and would kill them if the resident didn't send him money via Western Union.

The phone number could not be traced, but deputies did find out there have been similar incidents in Orlando, Florida; the investigation is ongoing.

Citizens are reminded to be cautious if they receive solicitation for funds or other financial related requests over the telephone. Any suspicious calls received should be reported to law enforcement.
