Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson says a suspect in Arapahoe High School shooting in Centennial has died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooter was a student at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, according to Sheriff Robinson. He says another student was wounded when he confronted the armed student and was shot.
Officers found another injured student while securing the school.
Jason Dunkel, spokesman for Littleton Adventist Hospital, says one student was in surgery Friday. It's unclear how that student was wounded.
Colorado division of emergency management spokeswoman Micki Trost said her director went to Arapahoe High School after reports of an active shooter. There weren't any more immediate details.
Police were outside the school, and students were seen walking toward the school's running track with their hands in the air. Television footage showed students being patted down.
Police are going room to room in the high school counting students and releasing them one-by-one.
As a precautionary measure, School Resource Officers in Colorado Springs are on heightened alert. CSPD officers have increased patrols near schools.
