The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said a 16-year-old boy was shot in the 7400 block of Woody Creek Drive early Friday morning. Deputies located the teen a few blocks away from where the shooting took place and he was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Lt. Jeff Kramer said several 9-1-1 calls came in about shots fired around 1:30am Friday. When deputies arrived on scene, several vehicles were leaving the neighborhood where the shooting took place. Deputies believe there was some type of party or gathering at a home there, a disturbance broke out and that's when shots were fired.
The only victim is the 16-year-old, no suspects have been identified at this time. Lt. Kramer said though no one is in custody, they have no reason to believe that there is any remaining danger to the public. The Sheriff's Office is working to obtain a search warrant for the home where the shooting took place, and deputies are conducting interviews to figure out just what happened and who might have been involved.
