Colorado Springs Police are looking for two people involved with a shooting inside the Walmart on Razorback Road, near the Chapel Hills Mall.
Police say Tuesday afternoon, security guards confronted the two for shoplifting. They were inside the entrance of the store. That's when a fight started, and one shoplifter pulled out a gun and fired a single shot into the ceiling. No one was hurt, but the two shoplifters took off in either a Trans Am or Grand Prix.
"There's no reason to believe that there's danger to the community at this time, mainly because they didn't try to do anything violent until they were confronted," says Sergeant Scott Schwall, spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department.
It was a tense moment for people who where shopping inside the store.
"I was, like, in the ladies clothing area and it sounded liked a balloon popped, but it was a gun and everybody was ducking," says Karen Breland.
Tuesday night, the store was open for business, but the north entrance was closed as detectives investigated. Police are not releasing details on the two shoplifters as they follow leads.
