An early morning call to police has left one Colorado Springs business shot up and asking questions. It all happened at a medical marijuana dispensary on the 1300 block of North Academy around 3 Saturday morning. Police received a call of shots fired in the area. The suspects got away.
Store manager Ed Balentin received a call around 4 in the morning about a problem at his store. When opened up Saturday morning he saw the evidence for himself. It appears some would be burglars shot at least 2 rounds into the stores back door. "I didn't realize somebody had tried to shoot their way in until I got here." he says.
Ed's doing what he can to take it all in stride. "Must be terrible shot because the guy missed all three times." he laughs. But he's still frustrated at the people who shot up his store. "Once you get in what are you going to do?" he says, "The state has given us so many regulations and rules on how to keep our products safe and locked up at night, even if you got in you're not going to get away (with anything)."
He says he's not going to an incident like this scare him away. But he is afraid more scenes like this could affect his patients. "With incidents like this they're only hurting those people who really need the medication" he says.
If you have any information on this incident you are asked to call CSPD.
