COLORADO SPRINGS - The steady driving rain Thursday night and Friday morning washed through a drainage culvert and undercut a large section of Old Stage Road in the foothills behind the Broadmoor Hotel.
The sink hole, measuring at least three feet wide by about 15 feet long, was formed just west of the intersection of Old Stage Road and Pine Road.
Heavy equipment was brought in to repair the road and clear away mud and debris. A house near the sinkhole was also flooded when the runoff from Cheyenne Mountain washed right through the property.
