The Colorado Springs Sky Sox (45-62) picked up a split in Saturday's doubleheader as the dropped the first game to the Round Rock Express (54-52), 5-3, but came back to shut out the Express in game two, 5-0, earning their ninth shutout of the season.

In game one, the Sky Sox were leading 1-0 through four innings behind a strong start from RHP Jair Jurrjens (0-2) before the Express wound up scoring two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.

After the Express took a 5-1 lead in the sixth, the Sox rallied with two runs off a single from 3B Cristhian Adames, but the rally fell short.

Jurrjens tossed his second consecutive complete game, becoming the first Sky Sox to do so since Stephen Shoemaker in 1999.

In game two, Colorado Springs got on the board early with two runs in the first when Matt McBride hit an RBI double to right which was followed by Angelys Nina's RBI single. McBride's RBI made it the fifth straight game he has driven in a run.

In the third, Kyle Parker made it 4-0 with his 11th home run of the game, a solo blast to left-center, which gave him an RBI in four straight games.

The Sky Sox tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Tim Smalling recorded his second hit of the game with an RBI double to right.

Colorado Springs used a strong spot start from RHP Dan Houston and strong relief appearances from RHP Rob Scahill (2-1) and Chris Martin to shutout the Express. Their nine shutouts is second best in the PCL this year.

Though he didn't qualify for the win, Houston tossed four scoreless frames, while allowing just one hit with one strikeout. Scahill tossed two innings with just two hits and a strikeout, while Martin threw a scoreless 7th inning.

The Sky Sox will take on the Express once again at 1:35 p.m. (MT) Sunday afternoon with southpaws Brian Burres (1-4, 6.97 ERA) and Robbie Ross Jr. (2-3, 6.66 ERA) toeing the rubber for their respective teams.
