Small fire at local elementary school

Fire Crews are on the scene of a small fire at Monroe Elementary in Colorado Springs.

The call came in around 2pm on Friday afternoon to the school located at 12 S. Chelton Rd.

The fire is out, but there appears to be minor damage. The fire reportedly started in the bushes outside the school, but some smoke entered the building.

How the fire started is still under investigation.

No students were in the school because it is spring break.

D-11 says the damage will be fixed immediately and there will be school on Monday.
