Fire crews in Fremont County contained a small fire on private property northwest of Canon City last night.
About 20 firefighters responded to the fire, west of Highway 9 and about 16 miles north of Highway 50 Monday morning.
It covered only 1.5 acres. It was started by charcoal dumped on the ground by a landowner on Saturday. The landowner left and went back to Colorado Springs Monday morning because he thought the coals were out.
No decision has yet been made about whether the owner will face any charges.
No fire restrictions are in effect in Fremont County, but homeowners are asked to use extreme caution due to dry conditions.
