Smoke coming from Pikes Peak a controlled burn

If you see smoke coming from Pikes Peak area, no need to worry. There are some controlled burns going on today.

One is on the north slope of Pikes Peak where the Colorado State Forest Service is burning slash piles left over from a from a large mitigation project in October. That project involved 115 acres of sensitive watershed between the North and South Catamount Reservoirs.

The other is a US Forest Service prescribed burn north of Divide along Highway 67.
