The Colorado Springs Fire Department call center has been getting several calls over the last few days over smoke that is visible south of the city. What everyone is seeing, is a smoke plume from a prescribed burn on Fort Carson and the training area along Hwy 115. These prescribed burns will often send large plumes of smoke that can be seen for several miles and will continue as weather permits into December.

If you see smoke or flames of a fire you are still encouraged to call 911, but keep in mind that if you see smoke from the Fort Carson area, it may just be a prescribed burn.
