With as much as four inches of snow falling the summit of Pikes Peak, highway rangers closed the final nine miles of road today out of a concern for driver safety. The Cog Railway is still carrying passengers to top, but many visitors can be found rifling through the clothing racks at the gift shop in Manitou Springs looking for a last minute jacket.

The weather certainly has been contradictory this summer in Colorado with thousands of acres scorched by wildfires at a time when many ski resorts are opening for the 4th of July weekend.

We'll take you for a ride up Pikes Peak tonight at 5:00 for a close up look at the late June snow storm.
