Soldier killed in hit and run accident

A 19 year old Fort Carson soldier has died after a hit-an-run accident in Colorado Springs. The soldier's identity has not yet been released but police say he is from the Boston area.

He and another soldier were both on motorcycles headed south on Rangewood Drive when at around 10:00 p.m. the driver of a green sedan made a left turn in front of them. The bikes hit the car, but the driver kept going.

The other soldier had a female passenger on his bike. All three were taken to the hospital but only the second soldier and his passenger survived.

Sgt. L.C. Morgan with the Colorado Springs Police Department says they are looking for the driver of the car.

"It's metallic green in color, and fled form the area to the west," Morgan said.

Officers searched for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. Morgan says it should be damaged on the passenger side. Both soldiers and the female passenger were wearing helmets.
