Soldier sentenced to 21 years for motorcycle club shooting

A Fort Carson soldier convicted of killing a man outside a Colorado Springs motorcycle club has been sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Christopher Mountjoy was found guilty in the March 3, 2012 shooting death of Virgil Means outside the Sin City Disciples club house, 628 W. Vermijo St.

Means was allegedly thrown out of the club and was shot when he tried to return to retrieve his wallet.

Mountjoy's public defenders argued that he was acting in self-defense and believed that Means was returning for retaliation.

The defense plans to appeal the verdict.
