COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Apr. 22, 2014) - Colorado State University-Pueblo junior Victor Soto (Whittier, Calif.) was named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week by conference officials on Tuesday. He is the fourth different Pack pitcher to earn the honor this season.
On Saturday, Soto allowed just three hits while striking out five in seven innings of shutout ball against Metro State. Earning the pitching win for the ThunderWolves, who claimed a 6-0 decision to sweep the 4-game series, Soto held the opposing Roadrunners to a .130 batting average on the day.
The Pack have won six of their last seven games and stand second in the RMAC's Plains Division and third in the conference overall with their 19-11 RMAC record. They host Plains Division-leading New Mexico Highlands (22-9 RMAC) for a 4-game series this weekend, starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. in the ThunderWolves' Annual Pack the Pack game at Runyon Field.
TheThunderWolves will be attempting to break the NCAA Division II single-game attendance record of 4,122. Admission for all fans is free, courtesy of Art & Lorraine Gonzales.
