Southeast tornadoes spark fears of destruction at home

Tornadoes ripping through the Southeastern United States have people around the country wondering if the same could happen where they live.

Colorado has seen its fair share of tornadoes.

"We're right on the edge of Tornado Alley," says News First 5 Meteorologist Mike Madson. He says it's a common misconception that tornadoes can't form in the mountains, but Madson says tornadoes can form anywhere.

Many tornadoes aren't as powerful as the ones tearing through several states, primarily Alabama, in the past few days.

Tonight on News First 5 we'll talk about the types of tornadoes that form in the Rocky Mountains, as well as some tornadoes that have caused destruction along the Front Range in the past.
