The US Forest Service is warning hikers and riders of a frightening trend around the Rampart Range area, spike strips hidden underneath multiple trails.
The issue was brought to light last week when several hikers spotted the dangerous spikes jutting up from the ground.
Now the Forest Service is sounding off saying it's not only dangerous, but it's also pulling away from one of the best parts of our state.
"We go out on trails for relaxation, for exercise, to improve our health. We don't want to worry about what we're walking on! So this is terrible, it's really terrible that somebody or some group would do this and potentially affect all users," said Executive Director of the Trails and Open Space Coalition, Susan Davies.
The US Forest Service is asking anyone with information on these spike strips to contact their office immediately at 303-275-5266.
