It was a close call for a Colorado Springs woman who was hit by a Jeep Wednesday afternoon when the driver veered onto the sidewalk and crashed through her yard along in 800 block of N. Walnut Street near Bristol Elementary.

Police say Allison Reams, 35, jumped out of the way but the wheel clipped her leg. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Her grandfather, Herb Shaw, lives next door and tells News 5 the vehicle was driving erratically.

"It went across in the park, across the street here, through the fence, went out through there and it headed down the road and it looked like they were taking off but something happened with their car so they didn't get away," Shaw said.

The Jeep, which was equipped with after market shocks and wheels, had a flat tire and was stopped in front of a crosswalk at the school. The young woman who was driving was ticketed by police.
