Squirrel dodges bullet, worker doesn't

A 70-year-old man who was trying to shoot at a squirrel reportedly shot a man, who was outside working.

According to El Paso County Sheriff Department, around 1 p.m. deputies responded to the shooting call from a man who was doing work on a vacant property in the 7000 block of Shoup Road in the Black Forest area. The shooting victim did not know where the shot came from that injured him.

Deputies determined that Gregory Watson who lived at the adjacent property was shooting at a squirrel on his property and ended up shooting the victim.

The shooting victim injuries were not life threatening, He was treated at a local hospital.

Watson was served and released on a summons for Third Degree Assault and Prohibited Use of Weapon, both charges are misdemeanors,
