ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis officials are hoping Lambert Airport will be able to get some flights out tomorrow.

The airport is closed today after a tornado knocked out power, tore up the roof of the main terminal and damaged some planes.

The severe weather that rolled through late yesterday also flattened homes in the suburbs around airport, but there are no reports of serious injuries.

American and Southwest airlines have been checking damaged planes and canceling flights at the airport. American says two planes received significant damage. Crosswinds of 80 mph struck one plane that was taxiing in from a landing when the tornado hit.

Southwest Airlines says one of its planes was damaged by a baggage loading conveyer belt that was pushed by the wind.
