Standoff situation shuts down Colorado Springs streets

Colorado Springs Police have closed roads and several schools are in lockdown just north of downtown due to a standoff situation.

Police say they were called around 8am Monday morning after neighbors heard gunshots at a house in the 800-block of N. Wasatch.

The man inside the home has refused to come out.  Neighbors have been asked to stay inside there home.

Several D-11 schools are on a precautionary lockdown due to this situation.  Columbia and Taylor Elementary, North Middle School, and Community Prep are on lockdown.  Classes are going on as usual, but no one is allowed in or out of the schools.

Roads in the area on N.Wahsatch and Dale have been closed.
