State Games enter final day

Today kicks off one last day of friendly competition before the 2011 State Games come to an end in Colorado Springs.

This year was the first year the games spanned two consecutive weekends allowing for six days of competitive play.

Over twenty games will be played today ranging from softball and cycling to racquetball and wrestling, and many will go continue throughout the day.

No matter what your age is or your skill level, the State Games are open to everyone.

Organizers anticipate that close to seven thousand or more athletes will compete in the games this year, and the event can infuse anywhere between seven and nine million dollars into the local economy.

News First 5 will be going live from Memorial Park for the 5K Run/Walk this morning. If you can't make it to the park, you can see us on Channel 5 (or 705) at 7 a.m. and on cable Channel 9 starting at 8 a.m.

Admission into almost all the sporting events is free.
