DENVER (AP) - State parks officials are aiming for a dry summer on Colorado lakes.

To keep it dry - as in no drunken boating - law enforcement officers will be out in force this weekend. Colorado State Parks is participating in "Operation Dry Water," a national campaign that will include increased patrols and checkpoints as well as education and outreach.

Boaters whose blood alcohol content exceeds the state limit of 0.08 percent could face such penalties as fines, jail times and loss of boating privileges.

"Operation Dry Water" is a joint program of Colorado State Parks, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, the U.S. Coast Guard and other state and local agencies.
